Buddy System is establishing community refrigerators in the Miami area!

The hope is to give the community a way to fight food insecurity by

empowering neighbors to help neighbors.

Our first Community Fridge is up and running in Overtown! We're thrilled and can't wait to watch this project continue to grow. A huge thank you to team leaders Fania, Vanessa, Kelly and Jessica for all their incredible efforts!

Here is the location:

Harba Food Store (24 hours)

1003 NW 3rd Ave. Miami, 33136

Our goal is to have twenty community fridges up and running by 2020!

How Can I Help?

1. Donate

Every donation -- no matter the size -- helps!

This is a big financial undertaking, especially for a new nonprofit.

But we're up to the challenge!

All donations are tax-deductible.

$25 = fill up a shelf of the fridge with eggs

$50 = fill up the fridge with produce

$100 = fill up an entire fridge

$300 = 1 refrigerator

$6,00 = all 20 refrigerators

$5,000 = liability insurance for all 15 refrigerators

2. Plug in a fridge

We're looking for local businesses to plug in our fridges!

Ideally fridges will be available to the public 24/7 --

perhaps on a sidewalk or directly outside a place of business.

If you're interested in partnering with us in this way, please email info@buddysystemmia.com for more information.

3. Volunteer

Once our fridges are up and running, we'll need volunteers to restock, clean and survey the fridges.

Register to volunteer and we'll reach out when we

have fridge volunteer opportunities.

4. Donate items

Do you have an extra, unused refrigerator taking up space in your garage?

Or do you run a restaurant that might want to donate food, once we're up and running? Email us! All donations are tax-deductible.

5. Stay in the loop!
