Buddy System is establishing community refrigerators in the Miami area!

The hope is to give the community a way to fight food insecurity by

empowering neighbors to help neighbors.

How Can I Help?

1. Donate

Every donation -- no matter the size -- helps!

This is a big financial undertaking, especially for a new nonprofit.

But we're up to the challenge!

2. Plug in a fridge

We're looking for local businesses to plug in our fridges!

Ideally fridges will be available to the public 24/7 --

perhaps on a sidewalk or directly outside a place of business.

3. Volunteer

Volunteers can sign up to restock, clean and survey current fridges as well as implement future fridges!

4. Donate items

We are always accepting food donations directly to the Community Fridges! Here are some general guidelines:

We're also accepting donations of working refrigerators. Please email us to donate yours!

  • YES - Healthy options like fruits, veggies, beans & grains

  • YES - Eggs, milk & cheese

  • NO - Previously opened packaged goods

  • NO - Expired food items

  • MAYBE - Meat, poultry, & fish (at least 5 days before expiration, place in the freezer if possible)

  • MAYBE - Homemade meals (include a list of ingredients)
